The Saint Joseph Society of Boston has carried the traditions of Riesi, Sicily to the North End for over a hundred years — a volunteer-run Catholic society, and the home of the Annual Feast of Saint Joseph.
Born in Riesi, rooted in the North End
Founded in 1915 and incorporated in March 1925 by immigrants from Riesi, Sicily, the Saint Joseph Society of Boston is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit rooted in faith, tradition, and service. For more than a century it has preserved Sicilian Catholic heritage while meeting the evolving needs of the community it calls home.
The Society is entirely volunteer-run — every director, officer, and member serves without compensation — and makes its function hall at 467 Hanover Street a home for the whole neighborhood.

The traditions we keep
Religious in origin, open to all — gatherings that welcome families, friends, and neighbors of every background.
St. Joseph's Table
Each March, the Society lays the traditional St. Joseph's Table — an altar of bread, food, and prayer in the Sicilian custom, shared with all who come.
The Feast & Procession
Every July, three days of religious procession, live entertainment, and food fill the streets of the North End for the Annual Feast of Saint Joseph.
Thanksgiving for elders & veterans
Society volunteers prepare and deliver hundreds of Thanksgiving meals to elderly residents and veterans across Greater Boston.
A hall for the community
The Society's function hall on Hanover Street hosts neighborhood gatherings, nonprofit meetings, and a weekly Alcoholics Anonymous group.

The statue of Saint Joseph is carried through the streets of the North End in a procession of faith that has marked the neighborhood for generations.
